  About SurveyMonkey

I have chosen SurveyMonkey as my Cadre Gift.  Since many of us will need to use surveys to gather data for our action research project, I thought this free site might be helpful.  SurveyMonkey can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/. The web site is user friendly, promoting that its “single purpose is to enable anyone to create professional online surveys quickly and easily.”

With the basic (free) plan you can ask up to ten questions and receive 100 responses all without the need to download software. Easy to follow video tutorials teach you how to create an account, design a survey, manage surveys, collect results and view responses.  http://www.surveymonkey.com/Home_Videos.aspx

I have not used this web tool, so it will be a learning experience for me as well. For this activity I plan on designing a quick 10-question survey for Cadre 11 to take online.  The trial survey will focus on questions (we all might have) on the OMET program itself. I intend to ask my learning circle (L5) for input for these questions. Once the survey is designed and ready to upload, I will post the it online for Cadre 11’s responses.  The anonymous results will then be shared with both cohorts and faculty.

My objective is twofold:  first, the use of qualitative data to give our cadre a sense of community, in that we all share similar concerns, expectations, uncertainties and frustrations about the OMET experience thus far; and secondly, establish how the SurveyMonkey tool can be used to enhance our action research projects. This web element can be beneficial in diverse environments.
