Journal Entry - Twelve [posted Wednesday, January 21, 2009]

I have neglected my journal entries for a few weeks mainly because my ARP has been pretty much put on hold. The holidays have come and gone and now I am in Florida with the rest of cadre eleven for the FETC. Time is starting to fly by and I have some catching up to do on my action research project.

I managed to get my revised action research plan into Paul before the due date in mid January. I struggled trying to incorporate Paul’s critiques and suggestions into the new draft, but I finally managed to do it while keeping the content down to nine pages (no small feat).

One of the additions I made to the newest draft was to state my mission/ purpose for my action research project. I don’t know how I could have missed this in the first round of edits, but I am glad I got the opportunity to make this statement. I stand to gain much from this cyclical process; tapping into the wealth of knowledge of my fellow peers at WestEd will be an enriching learning experience. I will gain understanding and insight into the growing body of exceptional work produced by WestEd’s expansive community of professionals. I also hope to inspire fellow employees to help themselves and each other in a collaborative arena that will, in turn, provide a more positive, productive and rewarding work environment. It is my belief that this objective aligns with Pepperdine University’s charge of strengthening students for lives of purpose, service and leadership.
