In looking at the results of the technology snapshot that the staff completed, I’ve realized that their skills, interests, and concerns are very diverse. My initial reaction was that I couldn’t possible begin to develop a community of practice among of group whose skills were spread across a spectrum. However, after spending some time thinking it I’ve come to the conclusion that this might actually makes things workable. After all, a community needs to depend on one another for things, a community needs to have all levels of expertise, and a community needs common ground. We have all of this. I think that the wide variety of skills might actually help to cultivate the sense of community by linking participants to one another. I also feel that this development will assist me in reaching out to the staff and providing the “moral” support necessary. Additionally, I’m hoping to instill the idea that “It’s okay to need help, to struggle to learn something new, to not know how to do something.” Our remedial face this struggle each and every day in school. What a great way to have our teachers experience life through their student’s eyes
