March 13, 2005 - Podcast Mentors
I've had an idea for the mentoring project the culmination group project. I think we should create a series of podcasts related to the OMET program. These could be podcasted about 4 times throughout the program and could be tied to a blog site for "group mentoring "purposes. We (Super 7) could continue this in future years-or archive ours for 2 to 3 years and allow the next cadre to podcast their audio mentoring blogs. The sound of someone's voice is so much more "TAO "than an email. We could use some of the topics that we're currently using for starters. They could be for both mentors and mentees. Ah…. can you mentor from beyond OMET? We answered in the forum that we didn't think we could because mentoring requires interaction. But….what about audio bogging? Podcasting combined with bogs? Does the mentor have to interact? If participants interact with each other there is interaction so canthis be mentoring beyond OMET. Imagine that I audio blog about the importance of always teaching for understanding. Participants listen go to the blog site where I've posted my thoughts & comments and they can comment. Do I need to interact directly with them or could their interacting with each other, through my comment count? Hmmm...mentoring from beyond ONE. Interesting idea.
