March 21, 2005 Power Forces
I've been working on my AR since October, and I think that I have been so focused on it, that I've missed so real changes that have occurred. At times, I feel like my AR isn't moving along. At other times, I think it's going along okay. As mentioned many times, it will take longer than this year to develop this AR.
So, what have I missed? Well, since beginning this AR, I have been branching and reaching out. Why? To make change because that is what I am learning. The power to change through connecting. George Lucas once said, " One human having contact with another is the most powerful force." That is what my AR is all about and I have been so focused on my specific AR, that I've missed the fact that I'm bringing people together across several domains, and that for me, that experience has been a powerful force. I recently created a room in Tapped In for the Special Interest Group of Technology Cooordinator of ISTE. This is going to be a common place where members can meet and where we can share info. I initiated a series of monthly events that are for our members, but also open to all Tapped In members. The goal is to eventually get our members to "host" events in areas of their expertise--a way of sharing knowledge.
I am also co-facilitating the SIGTC pre-conference Bb forum for NECC. I will make even more connections, promote our Tapped In sessions, and develop new networks. I will specifically be "promoting podcasting/blogging" and millenial students ideas. This is a relatively new endeavor.
Finally, I'm co-hosting a birds-of-a-feather session at NECC for Pennsylavnia Technology Coordinators. This is an effort to bring together TCs across Pennsylvania. I'm still working on this, but I'm hoping to develop some connections for PA TCs to support each other.
Wow! So, my AR has had profound effects on me and will at some point impact others. I think it's quite interesting that I'm being more successful in their auxillary inititatives than in my AR initiative. What does that mean? I'm wondering whether this should be included in any of the AR reports. Or should this just stay here.
