December 26, 2004 - Drive Time
I drive 1 ½ hours to work each way (3 hours total) and I spend quite a bit of time thinking, however capturing these thoughts for recording has been challenging for me. I have tried using a tape recorder, I have recorded the thoughts, but it’s just doesn’t work for me to go back through the tape to record the thoughts. I gain much from this time and the reflection that occurs, I just haven’t been able to record it for later analysis.
Lately, I’ve been downloading the Edutopia radio shows from the archive onto my mp3 player and playing those through the radio during my drive time. I have found this to be quite satisfying and inspiring. I’m wishing that Edutopia would do these as a podcast!!! That would be cool. Next, I’m going to try to do the same with the NPR archives that are technology related. I’m aware of a program that will allow me to snatch the archives for recording to the mp3—this will be great—allowing me to listen to the shows at a time that is convenient for me and make good use of my drive time. I believe I read somewhere that NPR was looking at podcasting for their shows. That would be great and would save me even more time.
